Just for laughs

15 weeks or 3.5 months!

Cate is finally starting to fit into the 3-6 month clothes, though some are still a little too big. I actually got a little sad putting away her tiny clothes, but it's fun to dress her up in new things. I love this picture of her in her pink spring coat. We were getting ready to go out for a walk and then over to watch Daddy's JV team play baseball.

Cate talking to her best friend

Every morning after Cate has her breakfast, I put her in her bouncy seat while I get my breakfast. As she has become more aware of her surroundings, she is better able to entertain herself for longer periods, and one of her best friends is blue butterfly (Max and Celie- thanks for this one!). Cate has been really talkative lately, and I caught a little of this today as she was apparently solving the problems of the world with her butterfly. She was squawking away like this last night while I was making dinner- to the point where Rick came out into the kitchen to see what all the noise was about- and she continued to talk to us all throughout dinner too. It's so funny!

Grasping and sitting up

Cate is getting really good at grabbing her toys. She especially likes this one, a gift from Mrs. Wells. I think it's really interesting how most "chew" toys (sorry, that sounds like she's a dog) are made of rubber, but Cate always prefers to chew on soft materials- like her stuffed animals. Even with this grab apple toy, notice she's chewing on the crinkly leaves!

I've also started propping Cate up for periods of time in the Boppy pillow. She does pretty well but is starting to look a little bored in that last picture!!

Above, Cate is wearing Daddy's Morse High School baseball hat. It's a nice break from his usual posing of her with various golf paraphanalia. :)

"Hmmm, should I go with the lamb's ear and bee balm, or perhaps the columbine and bleeding hearts?" Today Cate and I went to the Garden Stop nursery with our friend Julie. The nursery is in the "town" of Pownal, about 20 minutes from Bath (I use the term town lightly- it's more of a crossroads!). Julie decided we needed to get out of the county and do some pansy shopping. It was a beautiful nursery with about 10 big greenhouses, and we did pick out a few pretty pansies. Cate was amazingly well behaved, even as Julie changed her mind about pansy color probably five times (love you Jules!). But I think the whole trip wore Cate out, because she has been asleep for at least the last two hours! We should go shopping more often!

3 months old today!

So today is Cate's true three month birthday, and she celebrated it with a trip to Lowe's. Luckily the weather here has been beautiful this week- sunny and in the low 60's, so we've been able to go out for long walks in the stroller. It feels so good to get outside. Otherwise, she is doing well. She still has her moments- and probably has more moments than some other babies, but at least she is getting to the point where she can better entertain herself. But for example, she is currently fussing in my lap, probably b/c I'm typing and not moving, so she's bored. I think she'll be much happier when she becomes more mobile. I thoroughly expect her to be on the move as soon as she is able!

Almost 12 weeks!

Mom (Gramma) has been up since last weekend visiting. She was supposed to go home tomorrow, but she flew up on Skybus, the now defunct airline, so she is with us until Saturday and will be returning to Ohio on AirTran. Either way, we're happy to have her (and her help) for a few extra days!! Cate is changing by the day, and has reached several milestones in the past week. Her hands are now open quite a bit more, she giggled (which we haven't been able to repeat), and she rolled over from tummy to back (which we also haven't been able to repeat). But we're getting there! Hard to believe she's nearly three months old. I won't say it's gone fast, but I'm glad she's getting to a point where she can interact more and is more fun to play with. I think we still have a while before she'll be interested in playing with my old My Little Ponies, but that time will come! Here are some pictures and a video from the past week....

Not like mother...

Here's me at 2 months. I don't see Cate in my chubby face!! Look at the size of those cheeks!! :O

Like father, like daughter?

I found this picture of Rick from his first Christmas. He would have been about as old as Cate is now. I definitely see similarities!!
