Care package for Cate
Yesterday Cate got a "care package" from Great Aunt Chris and Great Uncle Charlie. The note said that this was her own snack stash so that she wouldn't have to thieve vanilla wafers from the cupboard. They sent her mini Nilla wafers, goldfish, fig newtons.. all her favorites!! She dug right in! Thank you Gr. Aunt Chris and Gr. Uncle Charlie!!!!
Last night I went into Cate's room before going to bed, and she looked so sweet I had to take her picture.

Take me out to the ball game!
Rick was offered two tickets to this afternoon's Portland Sea Dogs game, so we decided to take Cate to her first "real" baseball game. It was an absolutely beautiful day- warm, but not too hot- and lots of sun. She actually made it through six innings before she started to get really antsy. And after six innings we were getting tired of trying to keep her in one spot! But we think she had a pretty good time, people watching and keeping an eye out for Slugger, the team mascot and the largest "stuffed animal" she had ever seen.
Cate really took to this Seadog Biscuit- two chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in the middle- made by a local company and sold by the hundreds (thousands??) at baseball games. I had to wrestle it away from her just to get a few bites (and, of course, the bites were fairly slobbery- yum).
Here's the ball field. Rick insisted that I mention the dimensions are identical to Fenway Park, including the Green Monster (the big green wall). It's 400 feet to the center field wall, which, apparently, is really far for baseball.

A beautiful day for a walk in the park
Today was a fantastic, sunny, and warm day- the warmest we've had so far this year. I think it was nearly 75 by this afternoon. After Cate and I had lunch, we went out for a walk through downtown Bath and stopped in at a few of the shops, including a new consignment baby shop that just opened next to the Kennebec Angler. We then headed up to the park at the library so that Cate could get out of the stroller and run around for a bit. I took a whole load of pictures of her, so here's a sampling....

Isn't that a look? Last night we were at a church supper, and our pastor said of Cate, "She has so many great facial expressions. She would have been good in silent films." haha :)
Cate was very interested in this little lady bug and managed to pick it up without squishing it. Right after a took this picture, it flew away, much to Cate's disappointment.
At the Firehouse visiting Daddy
After leaving Library Park, we headed up the hill to the firehouse to visit Daddy and drop off his baseball shoes. Cate got to be up in the fire engine with Daddy and practice steering.

Cate seemed a little unsure about being up so high when Mommy was way down on the ground (the seats in the engine are really high up!!)

She was pretty much down for the count, so shortly after this, Cate went back in the stroller and we headed on home for nap time. Then we met up with Daddy again at the baseball fields to watch the boys play baseball (Rick's helping coach Morse varsity b-ball again this year). Cate had a great time running around and checking out the dogs and other little people who were also at the game. Mommy had a lot of fun trying to keep Cate from running onto the field. All in all, it was a fun and very busy day!

15 months old... and being a baby?!?!
Rick's coworker Nick stopped over yesterday with his daughter Olivia for a little playdate with Cate. Olivia is only 4 months old, so I brought out Cate's old playmat for Olivia. After dinner, Rick and I were still at the table when we looked over into the living room and noticed Cate had decided to give it a try, for old times sake!

Cate had her 15 mo. checkup today, and she got a great report. She's still holding in the 50th percentile for both height and weight- 30.5 inches and 22lb. 11oz, respectively. Developmentally, she's right on target. We were thankful for a good report!!
We sat on the porch today blowing bubbles, and Cate was kind enough to let me take some pictures of her without grabbing for the camera.

Easter Morning 2009
The Easter bunny came last night and left Cate some goodies, including some of Mommy and Daddy's favorite Easter candy! What a smart bunny! Cate got a new Baby Signing Time video (vol. 2), baby bottles for her dolls (so she can stop using her own), and a little Big Pony polo shirt that Daddy loved and the bunny found on clearance at the outlet in Freeport. The stuffed bunny was a present from Nana and Grandpa Davis.

Cate knew just what to do with the new baby bottle. One hour later, Zoe snuck upstairs with it and nearly chewed the nipple off the end. We salvaged it, but I was not pleased.
Heck with the toys, what are these, and how do I get them open?
Checking out the new video (Zoe, get away from the peanut butter eggs!)
Getting ready for church
Not thrilled with either of the pictures we got of the three of us, but oh well, here it is for your viewing pleasure. Plus it was such a chilly morning, and we weren't wearing our jackets, so it was just a couple quick shots and then back in the house. I told Cate this was only one of the first of many fashion sacrifices she would be making as a woman. haha :)
Trying to get pictures of Cate's dress and bonnet before she could rip off the bonnet and grab the camera was nearly impossible.
Dancing in the Streets (Part I)
After we got home from church, we let Cate run around outside a bit and tried to get some pictures of her in her dress. She wouldn't stand still for a second, and in a few of these pictures, you can probably tell that she is yelling to the neighbors across the street. I took a lot of pictures, and I loved them all so much, I'm posting them all. Oh, and if her brand new pink sweater looks a touch purple, that would be from me accidentally washing a new pair of Cate's blue jeans with the rest of Cate's laundry. Won't be doing that again.

Easter Day 2009
We had fun decorating our eggs the night before Easter. Rick said he does not understand the point of coloring eggs, as we just look at them for a few days and then pitch them. Ugh, men. I think he says stuff that that just to get my goat. Obviously, Cate insisted that we color eggs, and you can see how much she is enjoying it. And don't let Rick fool you. If he doesn't get to color a few eggs, he gets upset. :)

Cate has really been into "sitting" recently, if you remember from the picture of her on the steps. I remembered that we still had this little stool of Sheila's in the basement, so I brought it up for Cate to try, and she loved it! On a side note, yes, that is a pacifier you see in her mouth. We are probably the only parents on the face of the earth that would allow their 15 month old, who broke herself of her pacifier at 6 months, to put one back in her mouth. But we've found that sometimes, she kind of enjoys it, like we might sometimes enjoy a nice glass of wine.
